A few months ago we reported on the visit of Mrs. Francesca Podda from the European transport safety Council (ETSC - http://etsc.eu/), who presented project call YEARS 2016 (http://etsc.eu/projects/years/). Two groups of students of the master's degree Transport Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Transport Engineering and Architecture (FGPA) at the University of Maribor (Boštjan Celan and Anze Jerebinšek, and Nadja Štumberger and Vivien Lorenčič, under the supervision of Assoc. prof. Matjaž Šraml, Ph.D.) applied to the call. Scoring of selected projects showed that both teams from FGPA were successful and, consequently, chosen for the mentioned competition.

Both teams of students were part of the European competition "YEARS 2016" in October 2016 in Brussels. The competition was held on the topic of improving the traffic safety with low-cost solutions. 11 teams from Europe (Italy, Slovenia, Lithuania, France, Poland, Germany) took part in the contest.

After a successful participation in the contest both groups of students have about a year of time to realize their solutions of selected cases in the greatest possible extent, on the assumption that they themselves acquire all the necessary resources and project documentation. Both groups of students are very active and successful.

Boštjan Celan and Anže Jerebinšek were also noticed by the (weekly) newspaper Panorama from Bistrica, which mentioned their work on the project in an article.

CONGRATULATIONS and KEEP IT UP!
