»This master’s thesis presents a detailed overview of the implementation of the project “Complete Renovation and Seismic Retrofiting of the Cultural Centre Črnomelj” from the perspective of a structural designer. The project aims to carry out comprehensive energy, structural, and seismic renovation while providing additional space for cultural activities and preserving the building’s cultural significance. The design process follows the conditions set by the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia, considering applicable standards, regulations, and budget constraints. The building consists of masonry walls made of brick and reinforced concrete elements, with reinforced concrete and timber floor structures. The assessment of the existing structural condition is based on material tests and static analysis, which form the basis for appropriate strengthening measures. The central part of the thesis presents a detailed seismic analysis and the selection and justification of the proposed retrofitting solutions. Special attention is given to structural reinforcements that improve the building’s stability and safety. The thesis is based on the structural design documentation prepared by a civil engineering firm and incorporates practical experience from all stages of the design and implementation process. The project serves as a good practice example in the renovation of heritage buildings in seismically active areas.«
