CITIZEN SCIENCE PROJECTS AND THEIR GROWTH TRENDS – EMPIRICAL VERIFICATION
The focus of this paper are projects. We have defined their meaning, as well as differentiated between different types. The projects were classified into the following categories: national research programmes and projects, young researchers, infernational research projects and international research programmes. The difference between a project and a programme was clarified. We then undertook a survey involving three Slovenian public universities: the University of Maribor, the University of Ljubljana and the University of Primorska, with the aim of providing an overview of the projects carried out between 2016 and 2021. It is clear that the University of Maribor is just below the Slovenian average in the implementation of ARRS as well as EU and other European projects and programmes. In the following, we focus on the trend of project carried out at Faculty of natural sciences and mathematies of the University of Maribor (FM UM). Compared to other UM members, FNM UM has an above-average success rate in obtaining international research projects and national research programmes and projects funded by Slovenia Research Agency (ARRS).
