»This bachelor’s thesis examines the role of construction supervision in different types of construction projects. It provides a comparative analysis of the scope, complexity, and methods of supervision implementation with regard to the type of structure, the technical complexity of the project, project documentation, and the legislative framework. The comparative analysis is based on three case studies from practice: a single-family house, an industrial facility, and a bridge.
The thesis analyses the legislative and technical regulations, project documentation, and the construction supervision process for each individual structure. Special attention is devoted to comparing the duties and responsibilities of the supervising engineer, identifying discrepancies between project documentation and actual execution, and examining the impact of a structure’s technical complexity on the extent of construction supervision.
The results of the analysis show that the complexity of construction supervision increases significantly with the increasing technical complexity of the structure, the scope of project documentation, and the number of participants involved in the construction process. The findings further demonstrate that the supervising engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the high-quality, safe, and compliant execution of construction projects. Equally important is the engineer’s role in the timely identification and management of deviations between project documentation and execution. Based on the findings, proposals for improving construction supervision are presented. The most notable among these are the earlier involvement of the supervising engineer in the project, more effective stakeholder coordination, the standardization of procedures, and the broader use of digital tools and BIM technology. The findings of this thesis confirm that highquality construction supervision is one of the key factors in ensuring the safe, high-quality, and compliant execution of construction projects.«
