» Traffic safety has been recognized as a major problem around the world. With the development of unmanned aerial vehicles and technology, new ways of analyzing traffic safety and possibilities to prevent traffic accidents before they happen have been developed. The master’ thesis deals with traffic safety analysis of the intersection in Maribor, which was carried out by processing a video, recorded with a drone, and a software tool that uses computer vison to develop trajectories for tracking individual traffic participant. Traffic safety was analyzed with the help of surrogate safety measures (Time-to-Collision, Post-Encroachment time and Heavy Braking) that can be used to assess the risk of potential collisions and to provide information on dangerous areas and conflict points. The second proposal, however, takes into account the existing architectural design. New load-bearing walls are added in order not to affect the existing layout of the student rooms and common areas. In this second proposal, the structural system stays the same. The seismic load is higher than in the existing structure, but the new walls are enough stiff to take more of the seismic load.«
