»This master’s thesis explores the revitalization of the Kopanki Mountain Lodge in Pelister National Park, Macedonia, which was destroyed by fire in 2013. The aim of the project is to investigate how the site can be reactivated through a contemporary architectural approach that respects its natural and cultural context while responding to present-day needs. The research examines the historical development of Kopanki, the characteristics of mountain architecture, the natural and spatial conditions of Pelister, the needs of different user groups, and contemporary approaches to sustainable mountain tourism. The proposed solution distributes accommodation and shared functions across several smaller volumes, allowing the architecture to adapt to the terrain and create meaningful spaces between the buildings. The architectural concept is based on four interconnected principles: tradition, landscape, view and identity. Traditional forms are reinterpreted through a contemporary architectural language, while views, movement, landscape integration and communal spaces establish a stronger relationship between the buildings and their surroundings.«
