“Magistrsko delo obravnava problematiko levega zavijanja v križiščih in vpliv digitalne distrakcije na pozornost in vedenje voznikov začetnikov. V teoretičnem delu so predstavljene značilnosti križišč, infrastrukturna ureditev križišč z levim zavijanjem in zahtevnost samega manevra, ki zahteva hkratno spremljanje več prometnih tokov, pešcev, kolesarjev in druge udeležence ter prometno signalizacijo. Posebna pozornost je namenjena tudi vplivu uporabe mobilnega telefona na voznikovo pozornost in prometno varnost. Empirični del raziskave je bil izveden z uporabo simulatorja vožnje in tehnologije sledenja pogledov. Namen raziskave je bil preučiti, kako različne oblike uporabe mobilnega telefona vplivajo na vedenje voznikov začetnikov pri levem zavijanju in na njihovo vizualno pozornost. Rezultati simulacije vožnje so pokazali, da uporaba telefona vpliva na hitrost vožnje, pospeševanje, zaviranje in stabilnost vodenja vozila ter na odločanje voznikov pri sprejemanju časovne vrzeli za izvedbo zavoja. Največje spremembe so bile zaznane pri pisanju sporočil in uporabi socialnih omrežij, kjer je bilo zaznanih tudi največ konfliktov in trkov. Analiza sledenja pogledov je pokazala, da uporaba telefona spremeni razporeditev vizualne pozornosti, saj se del pogledov preusmeri na mobilni telefon, kar zmanjša spremljanje prometnega okolja in lahko poveča tveganje za prometne konflikte.”
“The master’s thesis addresses the issue of left-turn maneuvers at intersections and the impact of digital distraction on the attention and behavior of novice drivers. The theoretical part presents the characteristics of intersections, the infrastructural design of intersections involving left turns, and the complexity of the maneuver itself, which requires simultaneous monitoring of multiple traffic flows, pedestrians, cyclists, other road users, and traffic signals. Special attention is also given to the impact of mobile phone use on driver attention and road safety. The empirical part of the study was conducted using a driving simulator and eye-tracking technology. The aim of the research was to examine how different forms of mobile phone use affect the behavior of novice drivers when making left turns, as well as their visual attention.The results of the driving simulation showed that phone use affects driving speed, acceleration, braking, vehicle control stability, and drivers’ decision-making when accepting time gaps to execute a turn. The greatest changes were observed during texting and the use of social media, where the highest number of conflicts and collisions was also recorded. Eye-tracking analysis revealed that mobile phone use alters the distribution of visual attention, as part of the driver’s gaze is redirected toward the phone. This reduces monitoring of the traffic environment and may increase the risk of traffic conflicts.”
